What Is SIX?

SIX is a modern pop-concert musical that recasts the six wives of Henry VIII as a girl group competing to determine whose story of heartbreak is the worst — and therefore who deserves to be the lead singer. The Story Behind the Show

SIX began as a student project. Marlow and Moss, both students at Cambridge University, created the show for the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The concept was born in a poetry class, with Marlow reading Antonia Fraser’s The Six Wives of Henry VIII and Moss watching Lucy Worsley’s documentary series. The show transferred to the West End in 2018 and opened on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on February 13, 2020 — only to close after its opening night preview due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
